Career Advice: masters degree or work experience [on hold]

I graduated about four years ago with a degree in mathematics and I currently work as a Software Developer/Business Analyst, but more Business Analyst. I've been working for about 4 years and and I am concerned with my long term career path. I would strongly prefer to do much more software development but to continue on my current path would lead me to an analyst role.

I was thinking of getting a masters in computer science to help refocus my career toward core software development.

Does anyone have any advice here? Is this a bad idea?
